Yep, that's me. Sitting at Belmont Park watching the track activity after California Chrome lost his bid for the Triple Crown. My name is Emily Daignault-Salvaggio and in 2015 I won the Field Hunter division of the RRP's Thoroughbred Makeover. The experience of competing and training a great horse for the Makeover was transformative for me. It was an amazing experience and it has continued to impact my life with horses five years later.

It's not enough to just take from life experiences. In my mind, the world can improve and change when we all give back a bit as well — be it money, ideas, new approaches to old methods, or just plain helping another being out. All of these things can impact those around us and make the world a better place.

So with that in mind, this scholarship is a continuation on my path of trying to help others in their life journeys. As you read through the application and rules you will see that one of the elements that makes this unique is the requirement that the applicant also give back to a non-profit organization. It can be any amount but it's our hope that this small bit of charitable giving might become the start of more paying it forward ideals in the horse community as a whole.

I hope you are interested enough in this idea to read some more and see if this scholarship is right for you or anyone you know who may need a hand in life.

Thanks for your interest,

Emily
